Recovery from substance use disorder is a long and difficult process, requiring multiple layers of support and resolve.   One of the best soures of aid in this battle is community.  Community takes a village...a House sometimes...to achieve and maintain.   In a time where many of the gathering places where the substance use disorder community normally share their support and knowledge to help one another through the difficult passages into long-term recovery are closed, these Oxford Houses of hope and family are more vitally needed than ever.

The coronavirus pandemic has hit all of us hard.  Some of us have lost friends, family members and co-workers.  The need accross our country is enormous and so many organizations and businesses are asking for support and are giving support as they are able.  During this time of isolation and social distancing, there are some who are at a higher risk of health related issues.   We would like to support our families, friends and colleagues who struggling to find support in this time of need.

Each Oxford House represents a remarkably effective and low cost method of providing support to those with substanc use challenges.  This was the purpose of the first Oxford House established in 1975, and this purpose is served, day by day, house after house in each of over 2000 houses in the United States today.

Oxford House is a concept in recovery from substance use disorder.  In its simplest form, an Oxford House describes a democratically run, self-supporting and drug free home.  Parallel to this concept lies the organizational structure of Oxford House, Inc.  This is a publicly supported, non-profit 501(c)3 organization.
